400 years of construction led to the popular Portuguese adage “Obras de Santa Engrácia” (Saint Engracia Works) and the monuments that is today the National Pantheon.
The history of these famous works is told through unique documents, images, items and artefacts that show the construction of this monument. It began at the end of the 16th century and was only completed with the inauguration of the National Pantheon in 1966.
As part of the Republic’s centennary commemorations, the exhibit also features the life and works of four Portuguese Presidents of the Republic who were honoured at the Pantheon: Manuel de Arriaga, Teófilo Braga, Sidónio Pais and Óscar Carmona.
Until November 7, Tuesday to Sunday, 10am-5pm, National Pantheon, Campo de Santa Clara.
