The Fira de Santa Llúcia is the biggest Christmas market in Barcelona, it exists since 1786. This year it will start on December, 3rd, and end on December, 23rd; from 9 AM. to 8 PM. More than 270 stands will be set up, outside the Barcelona’s Cathedral. You can find everything you need: Christmas presents, goodies, nativity scenes, musical parades, exhibitions… Undoubtedly, the Fira de Santa Llúcia is one of the most deep-rooted Christmas and ancient traditions of the city of Barcelona.
A much-loved featur
e of this festival is the giant Caga Tió. The Caga Tió is a tradition in Catalunya, this is a small trunk of wood decorated with a cute face, wearing the ubiquitous Catalan hat, and covered with clothes. At Christmas children beat the trunk with a stick until it “shits presents”.
The Fira de Santa Llúcia will take place on Avinguda de la Catedral, Barcelona. You can reach this place in subway, in stations Catalunya (line 1 and 3), Urquinaona (line 1), Liceu (line 3) and Jaume I (line 4). Or in bus: lines 17, 19, 40, 45, and 120.

Interesting post. Sounds like another intriguing event in Spain. I wouldn’t like to be that tree trunk. Haven’t had the free time to visit Barcelona yet – hope to soon. Hope the fair goes well.
