On the other direction you will reach the Praça do Comércio, where has located the centre of the Portuguese old empire near the river Tejo (Tagus). To go to Sintra or to Óbidos you must catch the train at Entre-Campos train station, which is just a short subway trip from Chiado. Close to shops, restaurants, cafes, banks, cash machine, public transportation (subway and electric trams) and 24 hour taxi stands, etc.
